Why Blog? Why Now?

I don’t want to pollute the interweb

I may not be the best writer, most profound thinker, or the greatest artist of our time, but I do believe that if I am going to put something on the information super highway, it better have more substance than a myspace journal mood update or a tweet about how I am taking a poo. Until now, I wasn’t willing to put forth the time or effort necessary to ensure that my offering to the greater interweb community was worth even a few moments of your time.

I know I’ll be wrong

I’ve accepted the fact that whatever opinion I offer could turn out to be either completely wrong, embarrassing or both. Equally likely, I might change my mind over time. Alas, that is part of blogging and I’ll handle it.

I’m finally starting to realize how my Dad got so smart

Smart people learn from experience. When these people tell you something you are happy to believe them because they’ve probably been there before. When my dad says to me,

“Having to back that trailer out of this winding drive is going to be tougher than you realize. -or- You’re going to have to prime this wall 2 times before you paint.”

You can be damn sure that flashbacks of the trailer in a ditch and the mauve walls are reinforcing his quietly offered opinion. Will I listen? Probably not, but then again that is how I’ll learn- The hard way.
